The entrance

The entrance

Welcome to the Gilcrux Holdings office tour!  There are currently 4 companies based out of this office with more to follow. We’ll like give you a pictorial tour of where the magic of turning keystrokes into Internet sensations happens.

Gilcrux Holdings is John Fearon’s holding company for his equity in a growing number of exciting startups. Spread across many industries, the only similarities between these startups are that they are game changing and go after grand ideas. We support passionate entrepreneurs in their quest to improve the world. Our startups aim to find interesting ways to disrupt established fields and do it bigger, faster and better.

Dropmysite

The biggest of all the startups here. This simple and elegant solution keeps your websites / databases safe with automatic backups into the cloud. Now comes with a monitor tool that sends web outages notification email and/or SMS alerts to ensure minimum downtime. It has a sister product, Dropmyemail, a Cloud-to-Cloud backup solution for Emails – the consumer service lets you backup your emails, contacts, chat and calendars, automatically. The corporate service, business.dropmyemail.com goes one step further to monitor and gain insights on all organization communications.

ApexPEAK

Helping small and mid-sized businesses turn invoices into cash in as little as 3 days. Unlike traditional financing options, ApexPeak allows SMBs to gain fast and affordable access to working capital in order to grow their businesses. While relatively unknown (and the founders like it to stay that way), it has already successfully raised a sizable seed round.

HelpLearnAsia

Aimed at helping small medium enterprises gain digital marketing wisdom throughout Asia. Reaching the target audience with seminars around Asia, detailed online video tutorials and arranging consultations with the experts.

EatAds

An online marketplace for buying and selling outdoor advertising space. Creating a more efficient process to discover, plan, research, buy and sell Outdoor, OOH and other media types.

Gilcrux wall of the family of startups

Taking a right turn at the wall – we heading into EatAds. Turning the old conference room into a open table top office for staff and interns. This room is lovingly named the “FishBowl”, the EatAds office is surrounded by glass.

The EatAds “Fishbowl”

Besides the hive of activity that keeps the team busy, one eye-catching piece is this piece of sporting history. A signed picture of two NBA legends, Larry Bird and “Magic” Johnson hangs on the wall. Belonging to life-long Celtics fan and EatAds co-founder, Nigel Hembrow, this memorabilia definitely reminds them to constantly reach for greatness.

Nigel’s most prized possession

Turning left at the wall, we are greeted by the pull up banners of the various startups.

Banners

Next to them is the press wall of Dropmysite. Ranging from press interviews, product reviews, online, offline and awards won, this wall is eventually running out of space. Also, known as the “Wall of John” as his picture is featured too frequently here.

Moving further into the office.

Dropmysite has 4 offices around the world so to keep track of the time zones for Skype calls – a simple fix is required.

Timezone clocks

DME offices in New York, Mumbai, Singapore and Tokyo

Moving on from the clocks, we stand in front of the multi-purpose room. It is the default room for brain-storm sessions, lunch/tea/dinner breaks, meetings, and chillout. With enough chairs, tables and sofa – this room is almost never empty or quiet.

One feature worth noting is our Polaroid wall. As everything becomes digital, it is great to return to the physical realm with something you can see and feel. These polaroids were taken during the various #BLK71Party parties held at the office or just because its 4pm on a Friday and its time to hang loose.

Polaroid wall of past parties

Another feature thats recently added, a fruit basket. As a startup without extensive health benefits – our office manager has kindly arranged apples for our enjoyment. Though as we are still a group of startups, nothing comes free – its subsidized.

Dropmysite health benefits plan – an apple a day at 70 cents will keep the doctors away

Sometimes to clear one’s mind and rest the eyes, a peering out the window to the greenery (and carpark) can do wonders.

Now back to the main area.

Looking back into the bullpen

The strong and yet still growing team of developers are cranking out yet another development for Dropmysite / Dropmyemail.

And that does it for the tour of Gilcrux Holdings – hope you enjoyed it. As they say, “you don’t have to go home, but you can’t stay here,” so do leave us alone while we work towards making our startups better and creating more tech ventures.

Until the the next #BLK71Party, fare thee well.
